Surf

Surfing in La Saladita is a unique experience thanks to its famous left-hand point break, known for offering some of the longest and smoothest rides in Mexico. The waves break slowly and consistently, giving surfers plenty of time to enjoy long rides and practice their technique in a relaxed environment. Its forgiving nature makes it perfect for longboarders and anyone looking to improve fluidity and positioning.

The best time to visit depends on your priorities:

  • Winter Season (December to February): Typically smaller waves, perfect for beginners to learn and practice in a relaxed environment.
  • Peak Surf Season: May to October, when southern swells bring consistent, well-formed waves ideal for longboarding.

  • Low Season: August and September, during the height of the rainy season, when occasional rainfall keeps the jungle lush and green.

Sea and air temperatures remain between 27°C and 31°C year-round, and the protected bay ensures waves are always rideable.

During our retreat, we have a dedicated surf coach guiding sessions for four days. Participants who already know the basics or have taken a surf lesson before will join the group coaching sessions directly.

For those trying surfing for the first time, we recommend two additional private lessons before joining the group sessions, ensuring a safe and confident start. The last two days are free surf, allowing everyone to explore the waves at their own pace.

This setup ensures both structured learning and time for personal exploration, creating the perfect balance for surf-focused retreats.

Yoga

Yoga sessions are designed to support the surf experience by improving flexibility, balance and recovery after time in the ocean, During the retreat, guests will enjoy 3 yoga sessions focused on gentle stretching, breathwork and mindful movement.

Some sessions take place early in the morning before surfing, helping the body wake up and prepare for the ocean, Yoga is practiced outdoors in front of the villas, facing the ocean. Depending on the morning activity on the beach, sessions may include a more dynamic flow or movement practice that adapts naturally to the environment, The goal is not intense training, but creating balance between surfing, movement and rest while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of La Saladita.

Food

Each villa is stocked with seasonal fruits, locally made peanut butter, bread, tea, coffee, water, and other basic pantry items, so guests can prepare their own breakfast. Lunch is flexible and optional. Guests may prepare a light meal in the villa, such as a sandwich or snack, or head out to one of the local beaches for a casual meal. In the evenings, around 7:00 PM, the group usually gathers to dine at different local restaurants in La Saladita, known for fresh seafood, tacos, and a relaxed surf atmosphere. Guests are free to join the group dinners or explore on their own, depending on how they feel after a day of surfing and activities.
